Please take attention to the Following Important Information for the participation of Opening Ceremony of the 36th World Congress of IIS:

1. The opening ceremony will be held in the People’s Congress Hall. Congress buses will transfer the delegates to the People’s Hall. Please board the buses on the sidewalk in front of CASS building( 5, Jianguomennei Street, Beijing). The buses will leave at 13:40, because all participates should pass the gate of security control. Please show your Congress ID card and invitation to the opening ceremony to board the buses. The invitation is the most important paper to have the permission into the People’s Congress hall. Please don’t take the things with you that are not related with the congress.

2. The individuals, who don’t want to take the Congress buses and go to the People’s Congress Hall themselves, don’t forget to pass necessarily through the “East-gate” of the People’s Congress Hall. They should arrive in the People’s Hall at 14:10 with invitation.
The individuals, who don’t want to attend to the Opening Ceremony and want only to participate in the Welcoming Banquet or Concert, should go through the “East-gate” of the People’s Congress hall at 18:30 with invitation.

3. The opening ceremony will take place at 15:00 on July 7, 2004, including the following events:
15:00 – 16:30: Welcoming Ceremony
17:00 – 18:30: Theme Speeches
19:00 – 20:30: Welcoming Banquet
20:30 – 22:00: Concert.

4. All of participants who need and get the headphone for translation during the Opening Ceremony, please remember to give it back to the staffs at the meeting places when the ceremony has been finished. It’s very important! For the lost each headphone we have to pay very high fee.

5. After the Concert, all of participants have to go out from the “North-gate”. The Congress buses will take all participates of the congress back to the front of CASS Building, that’s to say the starting point.

　　I would like to inform you that the 36th IIS world Congress is going well.

　　We thank you for your participating. Now, there are some important information to share with you. If you have any question, please contact us.

3. In the schedule, “S100” means “session No. 100”. In the first column header labeled “7-1”, number 7 is the date and number 1 is the unit (the number of period, one unit has about 110 min). Unit 1, 8:30-10:20; unit 2, 10:30-12:20; unit 3, 14:00-15:50; unit 4, 16:00-17:50; unit 5, 18:00-19:50; unit 6, 20:00-21:50. e.g.: 9-1 means 08:30-10:20, July 9. 8-6 means 20:00-21:50, July 8.

4. The opening ceremony will take place in the afternoon on July 7, including the following events:

15:00 – 16:30:	Welcoming Ceremony;
17:00 – 18:30:	Theme Speeches;
19:00 – 20:30:	Welcoming Banquet;
20:30 – 22:00:	Concert;

6.Taxi service is available at Beijing International Airport all day. Volunteers working for the congress will be in the airport, directing you to the taxi station. The cost from the airport to the Jianguo Garden Hotel where you could do registration and get information is about 100 RMB Yuan (about US$12.00). You also can take the airport bus to Center of Beijing; the cost is about 16.00 RMB Yuan (about US$2), then you can take taxi and show the following map to the driver to bring you to hotel where you are going to stay .

7.Registration for the Congress is located on the second floor in Haoyuan Jianguo Hotel (in Chinese pronunciation: Jianguo Haoyuan Binguan as green point in the map) from 6 – 9 July. Please take the escalator in the lobby to the second floor, fill out the registration forms, and follow the instructions on the Information center. For those who have pre-registered, please keep your registration number at hand for a speedy service.

8. The keynote speech in the plenary session could take generally 20 minutes, and the presentation of paper in the sessions could take 10-15 minutes.

Update Information for Hotel Accommodation and Post Conference Tours （June 03，2004）

1) Since some of the hotels for the participants of the 36th IIS Congress are fully booked already，in order to guarantee your reservation， please remit the deposit as requested by
the congress soonest. If your deposit fails to reach our account by June 11，2004，your
hotel reservation will be released automatically. July is the peak season for hotel accommodation, the congress will not responsible for the hotel reservation for those participants who have no reservation and no payment for deposit in advance as requested
by the congress. For details of payment, please refer to the website of the congress under the category “ General Information – Accommodation”.

2) There are about 1000 participants going to attend the 36th IIS Congress, if possible, we would suggest you to remit the full payment for your hotel accommodation before your arrival just to avoid waiting on the queue to pay in Beijing. 3）Post Conference Tours:
According to the new regulation of the airlines office, we need your information as
follows for reservation of domestic air ticket:

(5)Passport Number
(6)Occupation

For those who have not paid the full payment for the post conference tour, please pay as
soon as possible. If the full payment for your post conference tour fails to reach our account

Announcement

Due to the tourism peak in July in Beijing, and also the organizing committee has to make a lot of arrangement for the conference, it’s hard for us to arrange the hotel room for participants in the late of the time. Therefore, we have to ask you to register before 1st, June which will enable the organizing committee to arrange conference rooms, printed materials, etc. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.

The 36th World Congress of International Institute of Sociology will be held in Beijing from July 7to July 11, 2004. To assist the participants in registration and arranging their sessions in advance, the Secretariat releases the following information:
