The New Trend of Network Role in the Change of Company Administration: Research on 200nIT Companies in Zhongguancun of Beijing Li,Peilin & Liang, Dong
Abstract: This paper tries to verify that the trend of networking enterprise organization appearing worldwide exists also in some high and new technological enterprises in China, which seems to cultivate the new institutional innovation of enterprise organization. Based on the analysis of the data from a social survey obtained in 2001-2002 from 200 high and new technological enterprises located in Zhongguanchun Industrial District, Beijing, the paper argues that the increase of competition and the decrease of information costs are bringing about the trend of networking enterprise organization, which has a positive influence on enterprises¡¯ achievements such as sales revenue and profits. The Chinese enterprises change now takes place in two hands, one is the transition of institution, including the change of the property structure and the establishment of corporate governance, another is the transformation of enterprise organization. One dimension of this transformation is the trend of networking enterprise organization, which will become a very important factor influencing the growth of Chinese enterprises in the future.
The Research on Government¡¯s Action and Aid to Disaster at Province Level During the Three-years Disaster Zhou, Feizhou
Abstract£ºThis paper is aimed to explain the huge famine from 1959 to 1961. The literature on this topic paid much attention to the ¡°trigger¡± mechanism rather than the persistency of the famine. Obviously we should explore why the famine lasted so long and I try to provide an answer by observing the grain distribution system and the behavior of provincial governments. I find that the provincial governments in those heavy-stricken areas behaved confusingly. On one hand, they re-sold large amount of grain to relieve inside the provinces; on the other hand, they transferred grains outside to ¡°help¡± other provinces. What made the situation worse was that the grain resale could be hardly delivered to the victims in time. The lagged relief was due to the planning grain distribution system which reacted slowly to the famine and actually collapsed during the famine period.

Living as Double Outsiders : Migrant Women¡¯s Experiences of Marriage in a County Level City
Tan, Lin, Susan Short & Liu, Hui
Abstract: In China, a migrant and a wife share something in common. Both, albeit in very different ways, are outsiders in a new community. From the perspective of local people, migrants are outsiders who bring with them different ways of speaking, seeing, and living. In the context of family life, women are similarly seen as literal and symbolic outsiders upon marriage. Sometimes, when women migrate and marry some distance away from their home village, these two statuses converge. Our paper considers the marriage experiences of these ¡°double-outsiders.¡± Drawing on fieldwork completed in 1998, we examine migrant women¡¯s marriage experiences in the Special Economic Zone of Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu Province. In our analysis, we begin with a description of the most likely kinds of marriages among migrant women in Zhangjiagang. Next, we discuss migrant women¡¯s marriage experiences, highlighting the difficulties they describe. Finally, we describe the strategies they use in support of their marital and personal fulfillment.
Tentative Discussion Towards the Theory of Culture of Fei Xiaotong
Wang, Yanzhong
Abstract: Professor Fei Xiao-tong is one of the world famous Chinese sociologist due to his socio-anthropology community studies on civilized nation. Culture theory is one major part of his community studies. This article draws the theoretically origins of his culture theory which was based on Malinovski¡¯s functionalism and dynamics culture theory. His ¡°diversified origins with one core ¡± theory is not only identified in Chinese nation history, but also useful to explain the trend of the world¡¯s culture phenomena in the process of globalization. The Chinese culture and all other nations¡¯ cultures need to be re-identified through cross-culture communication and self-consciousness to learn to tolerant and admire each other in order to create general common consensus of the world. All nations holding their own different culture characteristics could exist peacefully with the general common consensus as the global culture roots.
Opportunity and Restriction : Analysis of the NPO¡¯s Qualification of Development During the Transition Period of the Welfare System in China Tian, Kai
Abstract: This paper analyses the incentive mechanism and restrictive conditions of the development of nonprofit sector in China during the transition period of welfare system, as well as the possibility to construct the partnership between government and nonprofit sector. The author insists that although government has incentive to expand the function of nonprofit sector for the institutional crisis in state-centered welfare model, there are some key problems existing in the development of nonprofit sector, such as the insufficiency of institution provision, poor performance, because of the lasting conflict of the demand of acquiring resources and social control. It is too early to construct the partnership between government and nonprofit sector. Based on the reality in China, the proper welfare model is state-dominated welfare pluralism.
